31 Day Challenge - Day 9

Day 9 - Something you're proud of in the past few days

Becca
Well I'm proud of my husband being almost done with his masters degree.  I'm proud of Collin for all his talking.  He's learning so quickly!  I'm also a little proud of my determination to lose these last 8 pounds to be at my goal weight; and for the weight I've already lost.

Greg
I'm proud that I got an interview with Boeing, a Forbes Fortune 30 company!

31 Day Challenge - Day 8

Ha!  Whoops.  We did it again.  Forgot to post.

Day 8 - Your short term goals for the month and why

Greg
1.  Finish stupid paper - I need to so I can graduate
2.  Get more tan - So I don't burn on our cruise
3.  Decide on employment - Cause it's a big life decision.

Becca
Well since its the end of a month, I'll do mine for the next month.
1.  Loose 6 pounds.  - I'm going on a cruise in 6 weeks!!
2.  Finish my menu board. - I want to use it, and it's taking FOREVER!!
3.  Help Greg finish school. - Because he's so close and way past trunk-y.

31 Day Challenge - Day 7

Day 7 - Picture of someone/something that has had a big impact on you

Becca

Well the first one I thought of is Jesus Christ and the Gospel.  I would definitely not be the same person I am today if I didn't have the relationship that I do with my Savior.  My knowledge of Him and His gospel have made me strive to be a better person.

The other person that has had the biggest impact in my life would have to be my son.  He changed my life.  I feel that I am still the same person, but learning so much about patience, love and understanding through having a child of my own.  And I wouldn't change a thing!

Greg
If Becca gets to chose two, so do I!! The first person that came to mind was, in fact, Becca. However, I decided to venture off a little bit to chose people who impacted my more "fragile" years of my youth. I looked up to my brother Jon growing up. He was a good example for a younger brother to follow and look up to. I knew I wanted to have what he had, so I tried to do as he did.

The other person that greatly impacted my upbringing is my best friend Jon Henson. Two Jons! We had a ton of fun together and stayed together. What I mean by that is that he was my strength in numbers. At CMU, we were referred as the "Mt. Dew Boys" because of this. Cheers buddy!!

31 Day Challenge - Day 6

Day 6 - 5 of your favorite TV shows

Greg
1.  Sportscenter
2.  How I Met Your Mother
3.  So You Think You Can Dance
4.  Any sporting event (preferably basketball or football)
5.  The Amazing Race

Becca
At first I had a hard time thinking of 5, but then after I got thinking, I have tons!  There are a few that I DVR every episode and have to watch them, so those are the ones I'm going to list.  But if I get to chose what we're watching I usually go with anything on HGTV or TLC.  After making my list I realized that I'm really into the reality shows.  I could only think of 2 that were sitcom's or dramas...

1.  How I Met Your Mother
2.  The Amazing Race
3.  Wipeout
4.  So You Think You Can Dance
5.  Gilmore Girls

31 Day Challenge - Day 5

Whoops!  Missed a day!
Day 5 - A picture of a place you've been

Becca

My family took this amazing trip summer 2006.  We started in Wyoming and drove through South Dakota up to Ohio and the corner of New York and then back down through Missouri and Kansas to get back to Utah.  We stopped at lots of church history sites and Cedar Point.  Two of my favorites were Mt. Rushmore and Niagara Falls. I couldn't find our pictures at Mt. Rushmore so I guess it is going to be Niagara!  It was an awesome trip and I definitely want to take my little growing family there some day.

Greg

Venezuela!  This is in Caracas. Isn't it nutty how you can't see the hillside and that the "houses" are built on top of each other?

31 Day Challenge - Day 4

Day 4 - A habit you wish you didn't have

Greg
This habit is something that Becca wishes that I did not have, so I wish I didn't have it by extension. I get emotionally invested in sports.  I plan days around watching some games (especially college football Saturdays!) and also when my team loses a close, heart-breaking game, I need to distract myself until I can let it all go. Overall though, I do not believe that I am as bad as most sports fans. Some get really heated and I can keep it under control. At least I think so...

Becca
This habit is one that Greg wishes I didn't have, and sometimes I wish I didn't either.  I wish that I didn't scratch myself until I bleed.  I know, sounds gross, and it probably is, but I CAN'T help it.  I do it subconsciously and even while sleeping.  To stop myself, I have to make a conscious effort.  I've done it for as long as I can remember.  My skin is sensitive and I get eczema when the seasons change.  Both of these things amplify my bad habit.  Man, I somewhat wanted to make it sound like it isn't that bad, but it just sounds, and is (Greg interjects) that bad.  Guess I have something to work on. :)

31 Day Challenge - Day 3

Day 3 - Picture of you and your friends

Becca

So I would say that my best, best friend would be my husband.  But a close second is my best friend, Tennille.  We met in 2007 while teaching at Hobble Creek Elementary.  We just clicked!  I just love her!  We like the same things and have the same concerns, and our personalities are great compliments for each other.  We work really well together.  Then her husband had to take her away to Florida :).  Miss you and love you Tennille!! (and thanks for letting me steal this photo off your blog)

Greg

Senior year spring break a bunch of my friends (22 of us) went on a short cruise in the Caribbean.  Surprisingly enough we fell in love with the old-man-game of shuffle board.  In this photo is Eric Becker, Nick Pelton, and Amit Patel some of my best friends in high school and part of middle school.

31 Day Challenge - Day 2

Day 2 - Five things from your bucket list

Greg
First off, I don’t fully believe in ‘bucket lists’ because once you complete what’s on your list, what do you have to look forward to? Dying? Or, if you don’t complete your bucket list, then you are left without an incomplete goal. Either way, I’m not buying it.

Becca
I got my list all ready, but then after reading Greg's "list" I felt like a loser.  I guess though, that I do somewhat agree with him, but I also feel like your bucket list can grow with you.  You don't have to have a finite number of items on your list.  As you check items off, add more!  As items become unattainable, move on; add a new item!  So here's the five I came up with:

1.      Visit Italy
2.      Write a book
3.      Live somewhere besides Utah, Idaho or Arizona
4.      Go to Hawaii
5.      Own a home

Heeeellllloooooo!!!

Seattle, Washington!  Greg got an interview with Boeing there, and we decided, very last minute, to make it a family trip.  We're so glad we did.  I was stressing about flying solo with Collin, but he did awesome!

Greg liked to joke that he was on a business trip, and Collin and I on vacation.  Really it was a vacation for all of us, but Greg did his fair (or unfair, depending on who you ask) share of work while we were there.

The first day we drove to down town Seattle to check it out.  The traffic was HORRIBLE!  It took way longer than it should have to get there.  While in downtown, however, it was much better.   The first stop we made was the Space Needle.  It was pretty rainy.  We went in the gift shop just to get dry.  Collin was super curious and wanted to touch everything.  So we took him outside to wander.

I would never want to live in a downtown setting, but I LOVE visiting it!  It amazing how big and spectacular the buildings are.  You can see the rain in this picture.

The next day we went to the zoo.  There are quite a few zoo's in the Seattle area, but I heard that the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium was the one to see.  And boy was it!  It is located on a peninsula in the Puget Sound, and the view was AMAZING!

We especially loved that it was a zoo & aquarium.  Collin loved being independent and walking and exploring by himself.

Penguin feeding time!

Collin loved watching the seals, but would get scared and turn away when they got close.

Collin also thought he would be helpful and move the "Wet Floor" sign.  He played with the sign for a good couple of minutes, before people were giving us weird looks so we picked him up and moved on.

He was also fascinated by the meerkats.  He seriously didn't want to move on.

That night, we went to see Greg's brother and his family in Olympia.  They were hosting a ward party, so we went to hang out.  We watched their kids, and followed Collin around as he explored under all the tables.

The last day before we left we took a trip to the west side of the Puget Sound.  It was more hilly and dense with trees, and gorgeous.  We ate at a little pizzeria on the edge of the sound.  The view, and pizza, were AWESOME!

Collin and I love popcorn and Greg caught a simultaneous bite!

It was a super fun trip!  We're so glad we went.  It was different than we expected, much more industrial.  But extremely gorgeous and there was more than we could do or see in our five day trip.  Guess we'll see if Greg gets the job, or if we have to take another trip out there :)

The 31 Day challenge! - Day 1

I was reading some friends blogs and stumbled upon a 31 day challenge.  The challenge is to post something about yourself for 31 days.  There is a list of things to post, and I thought it would be neat for Greg and I to do it so we could look back at it in a few years and see how things have changed.
