The Dinosaur Museum?

  During the month of August, Thanksgiving Point is doing $2 Tuesdays.  My friend, Katrina, and I decided it would be fun (and cheap) to check it out!  The first Tuesday of the month, we loaded up and headed down. We were aiming to get to the Dinosaur Museum around 10am when it opens, but didn't quite make it.  We were almost to the exit when traffic stopped.  We sat in that line of traffic for about 15 minutes.  As we discussed what could possibly make traffic this bad at 10 in the morning, we noticed that most of the cars in the line were minivans and "family" cars.  Then upon closer inspection we noticed that most cars were women and children.  And that's when we decided that we'd attempt $2 Tuesday's the next Tuesday.  We didn't want to disappoint the boys though, so we headed to Cabelas to check out their animal displays and fish tank.  It was a success!  The boys had lots of fun wandering around the huge store and checking out the animals.  Here's some pics:

A Weekend Trip

Greg took a Friday off so we could go on a weekend trip!  We didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted to get a little further away.  We decided to go to Logan, UT.  We left Friday morning.  When we arrived we went to see if we could check in a little early, but because the hotel was full that night, they weren't allowing any early check ins.  So we set off to find a park.

The one we found had a stream running through it about as wide as a car, and less than a foot deep.  The stream was sheltered by a bunch of trees, so the water was FREEZING.  Greg said, "It's shooting pains up to my knees!"  Collin didn't get in.  He played at the playground and had lots of fun dumping wood chips down the slides and throwing or kicking our ball we brought off the playground so Mom or Dad had to go get it.  We realized while at the park that we'd forgotten our camera.  We snapped a few pics with our phones, but decided that we'd want a camera.  We headed to Wally-World to get one (and some grocery items).  After that we went to the hotel.

Collin has to have time in the hotel room before bed time because he just can't sleep when there is a whole new place to explore.  Besides dinner at Rumbi, we stayed at the hotel the rest of the night.  We watched Flushed Away and some of the Olympics, but mostly just played!  Around 7:30pm I decided to check out the pool.  There were only two families in the pool, which wasn't very big.  Collin and I got ready to go, and Greg finished up some work and then met us there.  When Collin and I got back to the pool all decked out in swimming gear, two more families had shown up.  One with some rowdy kids.  We picked a corner and Collin splashed around.  By the time Greg got there, three more families had shown up and the pool was very crowded.  We were constantly getting bumped into or splashed.  Greg went to the hot tub, and after a little bit, we joined him.  We didn't stay much longer after that.  It said that the pool capacity was 49 people, and I counted before we left: 45 people in the pool!!  That's not including the parents and grandparents scattered around the edges.  It was crowded!

Saturday we went to get breakfast and it too was crowded.  So crowded that they couldn't keep it stocked. Not worth the fight, so we got some fast food breakfast.  Then we played some Angry Birds, and got ready to go the Crystal Hot Springs.  It was about 20 minutes away from where we were.  It was really cool!  The pool area was fenced off, but it also had a campground.  We're thinking we might go camping there sometime.  It would be so fun!  The water was pretty warm and even though it was nap time, Collin was enjoying it immensely!  When he had enough, we headed back to the hotel.  On the way, Collin fell asleep so we drove around to let him get a nap.

After nap, we went to the temple.  Collin had a blast running around.  It's a beautiful temple.  We noticed that it didn't have a Moroni though.  It did have a huge hill that Collin liked to run up and down.  Then we went to dinner at Pizza Pie Cafe.  We ended the night by watching Puss in Boots and some more Olympics.

Riding Trax

One of the things on our list of things to do this summer was to ride Trax to downtown.  So we did.  There is a station not too far from where we live, so we walked to the station, purchased our tickets, and then boarded the train.  Collin loved riding on the train.  He actually sat and looked out the window for almost the whole ride there.  Then he was starting to get restless so we busted out the kindle so he could play Angry Birds.  We only had to transfer trains once, and then we were at Temple Square.  We walked around (mostly chasing Collin) and then headed to the new City Creek Center to check it out.  We had dinner there and then got back on the train to head home.  Collin loved it, and I'll bet we do it again!
