Some things in August

Here's a ton of pictures for you!  There was just a lot of little things that we did in August, so I say, let's smash 'em all together!

Collin started his second year of preschool.  I'd been trying to find one for him to go to since March, but every one I found was so much more expensive than we'd paid last year.  If he didn't need the time away and to learn how to deal and work with others, I seriously considered just doing stuff at home for him because most schools tuition went up by $30 plus a month!  Finally, end of July I found one that fit most of our requirements, and wasn't as expensive as most of the others.  He was SUPER excited to start and make new friends!

He is just so hard to get a great picture of.  He's either posing, completely distracted, or blinking...  But goodness do we love him!

Tate, unlike his brother, doesn't mind a mess.  In fact he LOVES them sometimes.  This was one of those times.  He spilled his water all over his tray and then played happily in it for a good 10 minutes!

Collin's soccer season wrapped up.  He was getting a little more aggressive on the field against the other teams players, and when we asked him about it he said they were the bad guys and he was stopping them.  We told him that the only bad guy on the field was the ball and that he needed to be put in "ball jail" or the net.  After that he scored multiple goals a game!  Wish we would have thought of that sooner!

We wanted to get out of the house, so we ventured to the Utah County Fair.  None of us had been before, so we weren't sure what to expect.  It was pretty small, but we had a good time.

Our first stop was a building with Lego displays.  They were pretty amazing!

Then we wandered around through the animals and booths.  We ended at the rides, and Collin and Greg got a bunch of tickets and went on some rides!

Greg got nominated to do the ice bucket challenge for ALS.  Go big or go home, he always says.  And boy did he.  Immersed in cold water with floating ice blocks and chunks, he dumped a separate bucket on his head, and then dunked to completely cover himself in the freezing water.  Brrr...

Our friends the Fishers invited us up the canyon to roast hot dogs and marshmallows.  Collin and Austin play so well, and it was fun to catch up!

We missed getting faces painted at the company party, so I bought a kit and told Collin I'd try some out.  Our first attempt and he wanted a tiger.

It was tricky, but pretty fun.  I'm excited to have the kit around to try some more!

We all got new Cougar gear!-

We got to use the face painting kit again when Collin got invited to a Frozen party that encouraged the kiddos to dress as their favorite character.  Of course Collin wanted to be Olaf, so I threw together a snowman costume.  I couldn't find any white pants for boys, so I bought an XXL boys t shirt, and cut the sleeves off and sewed it into pants!  The party was awesome as well.  Collin loved that Elsa stopped by!

Weekend trip to Moab

We'd been wanting to go camping, but every weekend had some conflict.  And then August was surprisingly rainy.  We decided to go to Moab and Arches.  Our original plan was to camp, but the day we were planning to leave, the forecast said it would rain, so we quickly booked a last minute hotel.  So glad we did!  It did rain.  Which meant that the park wasn't super crowded, and it wasn't too hot to hike!  Worked out great for us!

Saturday was overcast and it rained a couple of times, but we hiked to tons of Arches.  Both boys had a fabulous time.  Collin even said, "I love hiking!  I'm the king of hiking!"  Here's tons of pictures:

Then we hiked up to one of the windows.  The whole round trip hike to both was pretty long, and we only had a day and a half, so we just did the close one and went back.

Then we did the sand dune arch.  Because it had rained the sand was easier to walk on.  Both boys loved this "hike".  They thought it was so fun to play in the sand!

The longest hike we did all day was to the Broken Arch.  We went the back way, and it seemed we were the only ones who did the hike!  No one was on the trail until towards the end of our hike.  We were nervous that we weren't on a trail at all at times because of the lack of people and markers!

At first we were just gonna say that this was the Broken Arch, but then a couple hiked past us so we followed them and found the real one.

Sunday we checked out of our hotel and headed back to the park to do the Delicate Arch hike.  I remembered it being long and kinda tough, but it was tougher with a pregnant woman and two littles.  It was hotter than yesterday, and there isn't much shade on the trail.  That drained Collin's energy pretty quick.  Greg ended up carrying Tate in the pack and Collin on his shoulders for quite a bit of it.  Most people who passed us couldn't believe he was doing that, and even commented on it.

When we reached the arch multiple people said, "Wow!  I can't believe you guys made it!  That's a tough hike!  We thought for sure you'd turn around."  It was tough, but we did it!

I'm glad we did it on its own day.  I don't think we could have done much else in the park if we had done this hike Saturday.  After getting back to the car, we headed home.  It was such a fun weekend trip!

Big News!

THIS POST IS NUMBER 200!  Crazy to me that we could have that many posts; didn't we just get married?!  And I'm not the best at keeping up on blogging, so we could have so many more!  Nuts!

Also, 

Yep!  Baby Price #3 is on the way!  I'm due Feb 8th with this little surprise.  Tate will only be 17 months... we're kinda freaking out.  Me more than Greg; he mostly just forgets that I'm pregnant.  We get to find out if its a boy or girl in about a month.  Originally I didn't want to find out with our 3rd child, but just finding out that I was pregnant was enough of a surprise this time around, so we're gonna find out!  Maybe if we decide to go for four, we can keep that one a secret until he/she is born... if, if we have four.  We will see.

We are super excited to have another little one join our family so soon!  And can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl!

Update on Tate

Here's some stuff about Tate!  I can't believe he is almost a year old!  That year went crazy fast!  He's not walking yet, but crawls super fast and scoots along furniture like a champ.  He took his first steps around 9 months from couch to couch (two steps), and has continued to attempt a couple of steps, but never more than 3.  If whatever he wants to get to is further than 3 steps, then he drops down and crawls.  He can go up the stairs just great, but just can't figure out how to go down.  He talks a TON!  He's super social, and says quite a few recognizable words.  Some of his favorite words:  Mama, Dada, Bru (brother), down, up, coo (cookie), bu (binky), mik (milk).  He says so many more but these are the ones he uses most.  He loves to play peek-a-boo, and make people laugh.  He's happy most of the time, except when hungry or sleepy (but aren't we all cranky when hungry or sleepy? I know I am!)  He's adorable and we love, love, LOVE him!

Trip up the canyon

We wanted a small adventure, so we took a trip up the canyon to have a little snack and do a small hike.

After our snack, we packed up and drove a little further up the canyon to a super short hike to a waterfall.

It was a fun little trip!  I don't know why we don't think of doing canyon adventures more often.
