Flat Courtney came to visit

A few days ago we got Flat Courtney in the mail with a letter that said our niece Courtney's class was trying to learn about all the 50 states by sending out Flat classmates to different states.  It asked us to send her some info on the state and to also take some pictures of Flat Courtney visiting our state.  We wanted to find something cool, but it was almost a blizzard outside.  We decided to take her out anyway.  (It was an excuse for us to get out as well.)  We hope Flat Courtney enjoyed her trip to Utah!  Here's some pictures of where we took her:

We started at the Capital to pick up some brochures on the state.

There was a pro-gun rally going on, so we thought Flat Courtney should check it out.

Then we stopped at Temple Square.

And visited the statue of Christ
Then we had her make a snow angel.

And finally we went to eat at Five Guys.
We took some other photos on our phones but I don't know how to upload those yet.  We enjoyed our day with Flat Courtney.  It was a fun project!  Any one want a visit?  I think I'm supposed to send her on to another state... (Florida??? Would you be up for that???)

Greg's birthday and Valentines Day

We didn't do much for Valentines or Greg's birthday this year.  We're planning to go to Phoenix at the end of Feb for the half marathon that Greg's signed up to run and we're counting that as his birthday/Valentines day celebration.  Here is what we did do:
On his 29th birthday he requested Brinner.  We had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits.
At our Jan Pinterest Party we made "Man-bouquets" for our men.  This is Greg's that I left on the kitchen table the morning  of Valentine's.  I considered taking it to work to be delivered but wasn't sure if that would embarrass him or not.  He told me later it wouldn't have, so I guess I can do that next year!

Also at the Pinterest Party we made these cute Valentine's Day wreaths.

For dinner on Valentine's Day we had heart shaped pizza with heart shaped pepperonis.  Yeah, I'm that awesome.

We tried to go to dinner Friday night at Outback Steakhouse while my parents watched Collin, but the wait was 75-80 minutes.  So we checked Texas Roadhouse and it was the same!  We ended up at Chilis, and then grabbed some cupcakes at Sweet Tooth Fairy before heading home to watch Total Recall (I know, SUPER romantic of us!)

My brother left on a mission

This was back in January.  My youngest brother was called to serve in the Arcadia, California mission Mandarin speaking.  He left for the MTC on Jan 9th.  The week before he left, my family met at The Pie in South Jordan to celebrate Lewis' birthday as well as to have a last family dinner before David left.  Here's some pictures:

Lewis and Dave enjoying their pepperoni pizza.

Collin played DS on the floor for a bit to get away from it all!

Then Collin helped Lew open his birthday gifts.

Before we left we snapped some pictures in the lobby.  M&D and Davey.

I really liked this one of Dave and Cassie.

Collin was SO done by this time.  This is the best group shot we could get.

I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since Dave left!  He leaves from the MTC to California in just 2 weeks!  He has been learning lots and is excited to get out in the field!  We are so proud of him and know he will be a great missionary!

More Collin-isms

I've got some more funnies from Collin.

In November 2012 Collin said to me, "Hey Mom!  Your hair is blah."  I hadn't showered yet that day.

December 30- This one happened when I wasn't there so I'll try to tell it, but Greg might have to edit it later.  We were at my home ward to hear my brother speak before leaving on his mission.  Collin was being a little out of control and I believe he hit me or Greg, so Greg hauled him out.  They went to an empty room where Greg proceeded to really give Collin a good talkin' to.  Collin said, "No Dad.  No," and put his finger up to Greg's lips telling him to "shhhh".  Stifling a laugh, Greg continued with his lecture complete with wagging finger.  Collin then grabbed Greg's finger and put that up to Greg's lips and said "Shhhhh Dad."

January 10- Greg was about to leave for work, and before he left he asked Collin if he'd like to watch a show.  Collin said yes and then Greg asked him what he wanted to watch.  Collin said, "Daddy's football!"  Proud moment for Greg.

January 16- I was finishing up the laundry and putting clothes away in our back room.  Collin was out in the living room playing.  When I came back into the living room it felt very warm so I checked the heater.  It was turned up all the way!  Guess he got cold!

January 22- Collin said, "Hey Dad! Watch this!"  Then he swallowed some air, burped, and then smiled.  Both of us giggled.  Greg said, "I'm so proud!"

Yesterday when he woke up from his nap I had a show on and he said, "TV off Mom!  TV off!"  I asked why and he put his finger to his lips and said "Shhhh!  Austin sleeping!"  (Austin is his friend that lives next door, which in an apt means we share a wall.)

Today Collin and I went to the store.  I put him in the cart and he got settled and then said, "Ok Mom.  Let's do this thing!"

Also today, we were watching Peter Pan for the first time and when the crocodile came on the screen Collin exclaimed, "It's SWAMPY Mom!  Swampy!"  He clapped when the croc got Capt. Hook in his mouth.  "Yay Swampy!"
