Finally! We finally made a trip to Rexburg! I was dying to see my girlfriends from college. (Love you girlies!!) This trip was a mess to plan; lets leave it at that.
We didn't decide that we were for sure going until Thursday morning. Greg came home from work early, and we left Thursday evening. I was calling my girlfriends on the way up to plan some stuff
. We arrived in Rexburg just in time to check into our hotel, and get Collin ready for bed. We made him a "crib" in the corner with the sofa mattress and the couches. He mostly wanted to play, though. We ended up taking a drive around Rexburg at 11pm to get him to sleep. But don't worry, cause he slept in the next morning til 10am!
Friday we planned to have dinner with my friend Jenny and her husband at their townhome. Jenny is an awesome cook; I was looking forward to the dessert she would make. Before going to dinner we checked out the campus and a local park.
The campus is under lots of construction, and was completely changed from what I remembered. We only made it around the Student Center, and already I was lost and had no idea where to walk. It didn't help that Collin just wanted to run around. Also, I totally forgot about the campus rule of no shorts. We were all in shorts, and got some pretty great looks. One student even said under his breath "You're not supposed to wear shorts." Oh well.
After the campus, we went to lunch at a local sandwich place that I used to go when I lived there. It was still as yummy as I remember. Then we decided to go to a park so that Collin could get some energy out. We noticed while driving up that there was a splash park in the park, but didn't have Collin's swimming suit, so we rushed him past it to the playground.
After playing at the playground for a while, we decided to head back to our hotel so that Collin could hopefully get a nap. That's when he saw the splash park. He was on a dead run. Greg was handing me his stuff (phone, wallet, etc) while we were trying to keep up with Collin. Collin LOVED it. He was fully clothed but he loved playing in the water. It wasn't that warm outside, but there were lots of people there.
Collin used Greg's shirt as a towel, and we went back to the hotel for nap time. I laid with Collin in his "crib" and softly scratched his arms til he fell asleep. We then went to Jenny's for dinner. We had burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and a yummy smore's dessert. Collin trashed their place! Greg and I were quite embarrassed, but at least nothing broke. And we just kept reassuring them (ok, it was mostly for us) that we were just helping them child proof their home before their little one arrives. After dinner we played a game, Blokus, that I sucked at. So now, I must get it. :) Then Greg took Collin out while I helped them clean up. Finally we chatted in the common area. It really was a lot of fun! I miss my friend Jenny!

Then Saturday morning I had plans for a girls breakfast. Jenny came, as well as my old roommates Laura and Emily. We went to a small diner in Rigby. It was super yummy! I loved catching up with all the girls, and honestly just having some quality girl time! Before heading back to Rexburg, Laura stopped by a sweet treats store. I wanted to buy one of everything in the shop, but settled for a chocolate covered marshmallow and a mint chocolate brownie bite. Both were amazingly delicious!
When I got back to the hotel, we quickly cleaned up (so quickly that we forgot a few things...oh well!) and checked out. We headed back to the splash park so that Collin could play, and we had him in his swimming suit this time. He was more timid, though, and we didn't even stay half as long as we had the day before.
Then we stopped in Idaho Falls. I wasn't sure exactly what we were going to see there, but I knew I just wanted to see it before we left. I wish we would have stopped by the falls, but I was scared Collin might try to jump in, so we just drove around. We stopped by a mall for pretzels and to let Collin get some wiggles out before leaving.
We were hoping to get to stop in Pocatello and see our friends Tennille and Anson, but timing wasn't on our side. Collin fell asleep, and they were at Lava Hot Springs. Oh well, some other time.
Overall, it was a great weekend. I loved my college days, and it was fun to share Rexburg with my family, and reminisce about my college adventures.
I love you girls! Now, you all owe me a visit!! *wink*
