Collin's "First" Haircut!

So this wasn't really Collin's first haircut, because when he was 11 months I trimmed the back of his hair.  And I have trimmed the front a couple of times.  Today was, however, the first time at the salon getting his hair cut!  I found a lady who cuts hair out of her house that was pretty cheap and nearby.  She was great with him, but he was not so great with the whole experience.

He let her spray his hair with a concerned look on his face, and then she snipped twice and that was it.  He had a full meltdown!  Crying, grabbing for me, grabbing the comb and scissors, squirming.  It was quite a show!  I pinned his arms down and she let him have some smarties.  I shared the smarties with him, which consoled him a little bit.  Then when it was time for the clippers, he was really done!  I had to pin his head to my shoulder so she could get the straight line at the back of his head.

But now he looks SO handsome!  He really looks like a little boy now instead of a baby!

Greg's Birthday/ Valentines Day Trip

For our last anniversary, my parents gave us a gift certificate to the Anniversary Inn.  We were really excited to use it and we were excited to spend a night just the two of us.  We arranged with my parents to have them watch Collin for the night of Greg's birthday, the 13th.  I booked the room in January, so we had lots of time to look forward to our night away!


We were trying to think of something fun to do the Saturday before.  We had been really wanting to go swimming, but the local rec center's pool wasn't worth the admission price.  We decided to stay in Utah County at a hotel with a pool the night before, so we could go swimming, but also to shorten the drive to my parents.

We found an AWESOME deal on a King Suite at the La Quinta in Orem.  We checked, and it did indeed have a pool!

We arrived at the La Quinta in Orem and when Greg went to check us in he found out that the pool was under maintenance!  It was completely empty.




The only reason we went, and we weren't going to get to swim.





Luckily, the hot tub was still working.  We checked the temperature to make sure Collin would be ok.  It was warm, but not much warmer than a bath.  We let him put his feet in, but he really just wanted to splash!





 So I had him sit on my lap.  And boy did he splash!  He was having a great time!

Collin explored our room, which was huge!  But soon got bored, and wanted to go in the halls.  We took turns walking with him.  And then it came time for bed.  We weren't sure what to do with him then.  We didn't want to go to bed at 8pm, and we knew he wouldn't sleep unless it was pretty quiet.  We ended up putting his pack-n-play in the bathroom.  The bathroom was huge, and it fit fine.  When we were ready to go to bed, we rolled the pack-n-play out into the room.  In the process, however, Collin woke up.  It was tough getting him to go back to sleep, so he slept with us until about 3am when he decided it was time to get up!


I changed his diaper while Greg made a bottle, and then I rocked him.  He cried in the pack-n-play for a while, but finally went to sleep!  It was a rough night.  At least the next night he would be with Grandma and Grandpa and we could sleep in.

On our way to check out, we noticed that the maintenance on the pool was finished, and they were filling it back up!

We then drove to my parents to drop off Collin and have lunch.  Then Greg and I headed up to Salt Lake again for our night away!  We stayed in the Cape Cod Suite at the 5th South location.  We loved it!  It was one of the smaller rooms, but I think we like those better.  We slept on a round bed in a lighthouse!  We love the Anniversary Inn!

The next day, Valentine's Day, we went and got Collin, and then went to dinner at Panda Express.  I know, SUPER romantic!

We couldn't get a good picture.  One of us always looked goofy.



And the last thing we did was pick up Greg's birthday cake.  He LOVES cookie cakes; especially the ones from Mrs. Field's. 


This one is a cookie card.  The cookie cakes are huge and there is no way the two of us could eat a whole one without gaining five pounds and ending up with a stomach ache!

It was delicious, though!


Happy Birthday Greg!  Collin and I love you tons, and are super ecstatic that you were born and are as awesome, amazing, hot, smart, and driven as you are!  xxxx

What we've been up to

I am aware that it's been a month since we last posted. But I'm sure my 2 followers won't be that upset since they both have taken longer than that between posts :)!!

So really nothing exciting is going on and that's why I haven't posted. We're just doing everyday things like laundry, dishes, changing diapers, more dishes, exercising, vacuuming, even more dishes. Seriously, it is the never-ending chore. I'd take it any day over cleaning the bathroom though.

The only thing that is exciting, well for me, is my blog readings. I should have taken pictures of the things I have done, but I'll share where I got my ideas, and then work on taking more pictures...

I have found some marvelous blogs. There are so many talented women out there and I am SO glad they share the genius with all the rest of us. One of my favorites lately is Our Best Bites. It's a food blog. I have only tried one recipe, but have plans for more. The one we tried is called Stuffed Pizza Rolls. We called them Pizza Poppers, cause you can "pop" them in your mouth. And they are delicious!!! Yum... I can't wait until they come up in the menu again and I'm super excited to try the "Faux-tisserie" Chicken.

Another blog that I love is Girl and a Glue Gun. My favorite part is probably her sense of humor. She's hilarious. But she's also got some fun ideas. And the best part is they look make-able. I'm am currently attempting to create her menu board. I am working on one with my mom. I go to see my mom on Tuesday's because Greg has class til 10pm. So I only get to work on it once a week, and that means its taking a long time. And probably longer than it should because my mom and I get sidetracked shopping, or visiting family, or making dinner. Eh, we have fun. But I am excited to finish that board so that I can get to using it!

The blog that I've probably spent most of time on lately is The Dating Divas. I've most likely been there a lot because Valentine's Day is around the corner. They've got great and mostly cheap dating ideas for spouses to do. They are super creative! I've gotten tons of ideas for little things to do for Greg to remind him that I love him, but I don't want to post them cause it would give away the surprises I have in store for him! I have tried one of their posts about making yourself look good for your man. It was a hair curling tutorial, and was super helpful! I've always wanted those loose, wavy-looking curls that I see all the time, but I couldn't figure out how to do them. Now my first attempt wasn't perfect. The front looked okay, but the back was a little flat. It could be my haircut (I cut it last...), but I'm guessing it's because I couldn't really see what was going on. It will take practice, but at least Greg noticed! He said, "Hey, you curled your hair." Not exactly what I was looking for, but I'll take it, as he usually doesn't even notice.

And now for Collin. He's growing up so fast! His physical growing has slowed down, but he is learning new things everyday. He's got tons of new "tricks". He now says: mama, dada, outside, knock knock, No! No! (my favorite), banana, dance, nose, all done. He still uses some sign language: bye bye & hi, eat, more, drink, and milk. He can do the following when asked: spin, dance, knock, wave, come, find his pacifier or cozy (his blanket), find his nose, find his belly, find his hands and kiss. And he giggles like mad when tickled. He is just so fun! We love playing with him and teaching him new tricks.
